4th of July Flag 🇺🇸
As we're gearing up to celebrate the 4th of July, I have some gorgeous abstract flags for you in two different sizes. With these flags, we are using a palette knife to paint the stars and stripes and then adding some blue glass. These are so easy to make and we'll be walking through how to do them! We are using a 4x12 and a 4x4 canvas to create these.
Start by loading your palette knife with some blue paint. (I'm using a separate palette knife for each colors.) Scrape the blue paint onto the left corner of your canvas.
Next is the white paint. Scoop some white onto your palette knife and make white stripes across your canvas. Don't make them straight, but make it look like the flag is waving in the wind. Then, we'll do the red stripes the same exact way. Blend the stripes together a little bit so it looks natural.
Now I'm going to add a little bit of gold paint. I'm loading a tiny bit on the very edge of my palette knife. I'm holding it sideways and running it along my stripes. It just gives it some personality! I'm also going to add some gold stars to my blue section with some finger painting. :) Use your finger to dab some gold throughout the blue.
If you are using the 4x4 size too, you will use these same exact techniques to create your 4th of July flag!
Next, it's time to add glass! I'm using Cobalt Reflective glass on my blue section
Now, we will add resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.
Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
The glass on this is so pretty! This one is very easy and can easily be done in 30 minutes - perfect for beginners!
