Margarita Snow Cone ☀️

snow cone summer Jul 13, 2022

Today, we are going to make a summery snow cone and see how we like it! I am actually going to do a series of snow cones, and this one is the first. This one will be a green snow cone with a lime (And you are going to love what we're doing with the lime - a bottle ring from Etsy!) We are using an 8x10 canvas with some acrylic paint and glass.

First, we will trace our snow cone onto the canvas. Tape your tracer to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your snow cone with your stylus.

Paint your snow cone base with white paint (we'll add a little more color later, just so it pops.) Then, we're painting the background with white and Indian Turquoise blue.

Next, we're painting the actual snow cone with a couple different green colors. I'm using a light and a dark green. I'm also adding some Lemon Yellow. Using a smaller brush, blend the colors from the bottom to the top - dark to light. I'm also blotting in some white paint to lighten it up.

For the base of the snow cone, I'm lightly adding some green and yellow too. I'm also adding some Vintage White, Raw Umber, blue, and orange to the base. Just playing around until I like it!

Now, we're going to work on the lime! I'm going to paint the lime first with the Grass Green and white paint blended. I'm going to grab a liner brush and make an outline with white paint and dark green. Next, I'm going to add some of my yellow paint and make the "quarters" of the lime with white paint and some dots of green. I'm also adding a touch of purple paint to my snow cone base - just because!

Let's add details now. Grab your graphic pen and add details to your lime. Outline the entire snow cone and add some short detail strokes wherever you would like.

Now it's time to add glass! You can add green glass or Starfire glass. I'm going to use Starfire, adding some tacky glue and covering the entire green area of the snow cone (minus the lime). Add your bottle ring to your lime too.

Now, we will add resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers or brush.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!

This is SO cute! Can't wait to add more to this series!
