Red, White, and Blue Flag

I love making flags and I love to make them messy! For this one, we'll be smattering in some red, white, and blue all together as well as some stars. I'll be adding some fun glass to my canvas as well. This is a great piece to make for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or just because! 

First, we'll start by grabbing our tracer and taping it to the canvas. Place graphite paper underneath and trace your lines with a stylus. I'll wait to add the stars until after paint is added. This is an 8x10 canvas.

I'm using Midnight Blue and Deep Midnight Blue to paint the left blue section of the canvas. For the red, we're doing Primary Red. And then white paint for the stripes. I'm also going to use some metallic gold too. I'm going to start by painting the white stripes and then the red stripes.

Now, I'm going to paint the left corner with blue. 

Now, it's time to get it messy! I'm going to use a palette knife to add some white paint into the red stripes and my blue corner. 

I'm going to do the same thing with blue paint on my palette knife and red paint on my palette knife and add them to the canvas. I'm also going to add some gold paint and use my palette knife to dab some of that color too. Let dry.

Grab your tracer and add your stars. I'm going to paint one star blue, one red, and one white. I'm going to do two coats of paint for them. I'm also going to add the tiniest bit of gold to my stars.

I'm going to take my graphic pen to add some details. I'm just outlining my stripes with short strokes. 

Now it's time for glass and resin! I'm adding blue glass and some gold reflective glass nuggets to my top blue corner. 

We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Then, drizzle over your glass. Pour the remainder of resin onto your canvas and spread it using your gloved fingers.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles.

This is a super cute little project for the upcoming 4th of July or anytime this summer!
