Faith & Freedom πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

In today’s tutorial, we’re creating a patriotic glass art piece with a rustic twist! I’ll walk you through painting an American flag and incorporating scripted writing with a fun stamping technique. We’ll antique the piece for a vintage feel, then form a cross out of glass strips and sprinkle in some Starfire glass and acrylic stars for texture and sparkle.  This project is full of texture, depth, and patriotism – perfect for all skill levels!

I am using a wooden canvas for this art piece, which means it is very porous. Start by adding three coats of Americana Buttermilk to your background. Lightly sand your canvas in between coats.

Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your flag with a stylus.

Paint your stripes with red paint and white paint, and paint the square with blue paint. You will need to add multiple coats to get the coverage you would like! Add lighter...

July 4th Watermelon πŸ‰

Looking for a fun and festive art project to celebrate the 4th? This glass and resin art tutorial will guide you in creating an adorable patriotic watermelon! This art piece is perfect for displaying on a tiered tray or gifting to someone special. It's designed with beginners in mind, using only three paint colors and simple techniques.

Start by painting a coat of white acrylic paint on your background. Dry with a heat tool.

Mix red acrylic paint with water, dip an old toothbrush into your mixture, tap off the excess, and run your finger along the bristles about 8-10 inches above your canvas to create a splatter effect. Dry with a heat tool.

Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your watermelon with a stylus.

Next, we are going to add a base coat of dark blue, white, and red paint on each section of the watermelon. Dry with a heat tool.

Add a second coat of each color, blending the colors where they meet at each watermelon...

Star Spangled Flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

We're creating a sparkling flag on a 4x12 canvas, perfect for beginners. It's easy to follow along - we'll use a palette knife technique to paint the stripes, then add some sparkle with plastic stars, glass, and a glossy resin finish. This project is the perfect way to celebrate summer and add a touch of patriotism to your home!

First, I'm going to paint a square on the left side of my canvas with Midnight Blue paint. Make sure you paint the side of the canvas as well. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, we will work on the stripes! I am going to scoop up some white acrylic paint with the back of my palette knife and swipe the color onto my stripes. This will not be perfect and will have a very natural and abstract look to it! I'll use this same technique to paint my red stripes. While the paint is still wet, use your palette knife to blend the colors of the stripes together more. I'll also add some Midnight Blue in the stripes.

Then, I'll add another coat of Midnight Blue...

Let Freedom Ring πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

We are using an 8x10 canvas to create a fun, rustic patriotic flag art piece! I'll be showing you how to get that rustic look using palette knives when applying our paint colors and also how to add some patriotic phrases. We'll also be adding glass and resin to finish the piece off. This is the perfect art project for the 4th of July holiday or anytime this summer!

First, start by sketching out the shape of a flag - the square in the top left corner and some stripes. I'm going to add a base coat of paint to my canvas using Prussian Blue, Cherry Red, and white paint. I'll also paint the sides of my canvas. This does not need to be perfect and doesn't need the best coverage because we'll be applying some paint on top of this. Dry with a heat tool.

Next, I am going to apply some paint to my white stripes. I am using red, blue, black, gold, and white and I'm applying this paint with a palette knife, and using the back of the palette knife to add the paint from right to left in...

USA Glass Art πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

We are using an 8x10 canvas to create a patriotic glass art piece! We'll be painting some red stripes on our canvas with gold stars, then we will add some blue bottle rings that I got on Etsy to spell the letters USA. I used my nippers to cut the bottle rings to make the different letter shapes. This turned out so cute and unique - perfect for the 4th of July holiday!

First, I am going to take a measuring tape and make marks down my canvas at the 1-inch mark. I'm going to start by painting every other stripe with white paint, taking it all the way to the sides of the canvas too. Dry with a heat tool.

Then, I'm going to paint the other stripes with Cherry Red. While the paint is still white, I'm going to take some white paint and go along each stripes line to blend that line a little bit. I'll also add a bit of white in each red stripes, and a bit of white in each red stripes. The messier the better! Dry with a heat tool.

We're going to jazz up our stripes! I have a DecoArt...

Red, White, and Blue Flag

I love making flags and I love to make them messy! For this one, we'll be smattering in some red, white, and blue all together as well as some stars. I'll be adding some fun glass to my canvas as well. This is a great piece to make for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or just because!

First, we'll start by grabbing our tracer and taping it to the canvas. Place graphite paper underneath and trace your lines with a stylus. I'll wait to add the stars until after paint is added. This is an 8x10 canvas.

I'm using Midnight Blue and Deep Midnight Blue to paint the left blue section of the canvas. For the red, we're doing Primary Red. And then white paint for the stripes. I'm also going to use some metallic gold too. I'm going to start by painting the white stripes and then the red stripes.

Now, I'm going to paint the left corner with blue.

Now, it's time to get it messy! I'm going to use a palette knife to add some white paint into the red stripes and my blue...
