Beaded Mushroom 🍄

spring Apr 10, 2024

I'm stepping into the mushroom trend with this 5x7 art piece! In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the process of painting a charming mushroom from start to finish, complete with all the glass beads and goodies to add that extra sparkle. Get ready for a journey filled with creativity, fun, and springtime magic!

I will paint my background with Hauser Medium Green and white paint. I will paint a coat of white paint on the front and sides of my canvas, and then blend in the green paint going in one diagonal direction. Dry with a heat tool.

Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your mushroom with a stylus.

I'm going to start by painting the underside of my mushroom using white paint. Then, I'll blend in some gray paint to create a shadow. I'll do the same thing for the stem of the mushroom as well as the smaller mushroom.

Next, I'll paint the mushroom caps with Primary Red paint. Dry with a heat tool, paint a second coat of red paint, and dry again.

Use a graphic pen to add quick, short strokes to outline your mushrooms and stems. I'll also add some texture lines on the underside of my larger mushroom.

Let's add our glass and goodies! I'm going to apply tacky glue to the entire red mushroom cap area of both mushrooms, spreading it around with a paintbrush. I'm going to add Dark Red seed beads to my mushroom cap. Make sure you press them down into the glue with your seed bead tube or cup. Let this sit for 5-10 minutes and then pour off the excess.

I'll also add Transparent Red seed beads here and there. They look a little different, so it will give your art some dimension. I'll also add Silver Lined Ruby seed beads.

I have a bunch of flat-sided pearls that I will add on top of my red to create the white dots of my mushroom caps.

Next, I'll add green classic glass along the bottom of my canvas.

We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your glass and beads and spread it onto your canvas using your gloved fingers or brush.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times! Finally, I'll add crystal seed beads to my mushroom stems and the underside of my larger mushroom.
