Buttons Carrot 🥕

easter spring Mar 13, 2024

In this tutorial, we'll be creating a charming 4x12 spring-themed carrot art piece adorned with adorable orange buttons. I found a fantastic variety pack of buttons on Amazon, offering an array of sizes, shades, and designs, perfect for adding character to our creation. Join me as we paint our carrot canvas, embellish it with buttons and green vitrigraph, and seal it with a coat of resin. This project is beginner-friendly, making it an ideal choice for those just starting their journey into glass and resin art!

Start by painting your canvas with black acrylic paint. Grab your tracer, tape it to your canvas, place white graphite paper underneath, and trace your carrot onto your canvas with a stylus.

Paint your carrot with Spiced Pumpkin orange paint. Dry with a heat tool and paint a second coat. I'll also use a liner brush to paint the top leafy part with Hauser Medium Green. Start at the top of your carrot and just switch up with your brush. Dry with a heat tool.

Add a thin layer of tacky glue to your carrot and then start layering your orange buttons to cover your carrot. I did two layers of buttons to completely cover it. I tried to keep the darker orange buttons to one side to create a shadow effect.

I'll also add some dark green and light green pieces of vitrigraph to the top of my carrot.

We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes. Pour the resin onto your glass and spread it onto your canvas using your gloved fingers or brush.

Use a heat gun to pop your bubbles. Keep your heat moving at all times!
