Orange and Black Pumpkin πŸŽƒ

fall pumpkin Sep 07, 2022

We are using a 4x12 canvas today, which I've only been able to find at Michael's. We are doing a cute tall pumpkin with an old, twisty stem and a black background. I'll also be adding some clear glass and resin to make it all pop!

Start by painting your canvas with black paint. I did two coats of paint. Let dry.

Grab the tracer, tape it to the canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your pumpkin with a stylus onto the canvas. I'm going to freehand mine with a watercolor pencil.

I'm going to be using Burnt Orange as the base color of my pumpkin. I'm also using Heritage Brick, Gilded Oak, Raw Umber, and a little bit of white paint.

Start by painting the entire pumpkin with the Burnt Orange. Then, paint your stem with the Raw Umber.

Next, I'm going to add some shadowing and details to our pumpkin. I'm using the other colors on my palette, like Heritage Brick, Gilded Oak, and the white.

Let's work on the stem. I'm going to add a little bit of green...

Hope Sunflower 🌻

flower Aug 31, 2022

We're finishing out our sunflower series today with a Hope Sunflower! This one will be facing forward and has the word "hope" in it. Again, I'm using seed beads for the center of the sunflower along with some clear glass along the bottom of my canvas.

First, we will grab the tracer, tape it to the canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the sunflower with a stylus onto the canvas (just the flower for now, we'll do the "hope" later)

Next, I am painting my background with turquoise and white paint, just going around my traced sunflower. I'm also painting my edges too. Let dry.

Next, grab your tracer again, tape it to the canvas, place the graphite paper underneath, and trace the word "hope" with your stylus.

I'm painting the sunflower petals with Antique Gold. I'm also painting the leaves with a light green. I'm using a #12 round brush. Let dry.

Next, I'm adding some highlights and lowlights on my petals with some Crocus and Terracotta paint. For the leaves,...

flower Aug 24, 2022

I'm continuing with our little sunflower series! This sunflower will be facing the other way and will have the word "love" included. We will be doing a similar turquoise and white background as well as including clear glass on the bottom and some seed beads in my sunflower center. Let's get started!

First, we will grab the tracer, tape it to the canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the sunflower with a stylus onto the canvas (just the flower for now, we'll do the "love" later)

Next, I am painting my background with turquoise and white paint, just going around my traced sunflower. I'm also painting my edges too. Let dry.

Next, grab your tracer again, tape it to the canvas, place the graphite paper underneath, and trace the word "love" with your stylus.

I'm painting my leaves with Hauser Green. I'm using a #6 round brush.

For my sunflower, I am going to use some different, fun colors! I am using the Marigold color again, plus some Spiced Pumpkin (orange) and...

Faith Sunflower 🌻

flower Aug 17, 2022

I've been having some fun sketching out and coloring some new fall designs - and this one is definitely one of my favorites! We are making a sunflower with "faith" as the stem and it is just so cute. We are working with an 8x10 canvas and I'll be adding some clear glass to the bottom and seed beads to the center of my sunflower.

First, we will grab the tracer, tape it to the canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace the sunflower with a stylus onto the canvas (just the flower for now, we'll do the "faith" later)

I'm painting the background with my favorite turquoise color - Desert Turquoise. I'm also mixing in some white paint and just filling in around my sunflower. Let dry.

Next, grab your tracer again, tape it to the canvas, place the graphite paper underneath, and trace the word "faith" with your stylus.

I'm using a bright green color to paint the leaves. Then, I'm painting the petals with yellow paint - it's called Crocus.

I'm adding a little bit of...

Pretty Abstract

abstract Aug 10, 2022

Today, we are making a pretty abstract 11x14 piece with gray, blue, metallic gold, taupe, and white paint along with some gold leaf foil and glass. This is going to be a monochromatic art piece for my bathroom and I love the way it turned out! (I also make a mistake and show you exactly how to fix it!)

First, I'm going to start by drawing a horizontal line about a 1/3 of the way down my canvas. I'm going to add the darker gray paint to the top of my canvas. On the bottom, I'm adding a smoky blue color. Let dry.

Next, I'm adding Oyster White and Anita's White over the top with a large chip brush. I'm just adding the paint from left to right over the top of gray/blue color. Let dry.

I'm going to define my line again with a tiny amount of a khaki and white paint. I'm going to bring the color down a little bit on my canvas too. Let dry.

Now I'm adding some metallic gold paint! I'm taking some paint on just the tips of my bristles and going...

Bead Christmas Tree πŸŽ„

christmas Aug 03, 2022

This project is as simple as it gets! This is my last Christmas in July project for now, and it's very easy and very fun. This is a Christmas tree on an 8x10 canvas and all you need is some acrylic paint, seed beads, and resin! Make this now for the holidays or put it in your back pocket when the festive mood strikes.

First, we are going to add some navy blue to the canvas, plus some white. I've already sketched on my tree, so I'm just going to paint the navy blue all around the tree. I'm also painting the edges blue too.

Add some dark green, medium green, and light green to your palette. I'm grabbing a fat round brush to paint the tree. I'm just going to add the color in long strokes from the edge of the tree towards the middle.

Now, it's time to resin! I know - it seems like we're doing this backwards, but after the resin, we will sprinkles our seed beads.

We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix 1/2 ounce of resin and stir gently for three minutes....

Jingle Shells Christmas Tree πŸŽ„

christmas summer Jul 27, 2022

This Christmas in July "Jingle Shells" is such an easy project! This is an 8x10 canvas and there is no tracer - we are literally just making a triangle, adding shells and other embellishments, and finishing it off with resin. No paint or painting skills required!

I started off by adding two coats of white paint to my canvas, just so it is clean and smooth.

I have a bag full of shells of all shapes and sizes. I'm going to using a bunch of the smaller shells as my first thin layer.

I'm just going to keep adding goodies as I go! I'm putting some bigger shells on, and I am adding a starfish as my star on the top of the tree. I also using a longer shell as my tree trunk. Do what you would like here and be creative with it!

I am also going to add a teeny bit of glass - it's called Glass Filler from Michael's. This is a champagne colored glass. I am going to use this as a gap filler!

Now, we will add resin. We're going to elevate our canvas using blocks. Mix...

Christmas Palm Tree πŸŽ„

christmas summer Jul 20, 2022

Merry Christmas in July! Today, we are going to do a Christmas beach scene with a palm tree, sand, and Christmas ornaments. We'll be creating using some acrylic paint, glass, seed beads, and shells. This is a great project for the summer or the holidays!

I'm going to start by painting the background. I'm using Vintage White on the bottom for the sand. I'm putting down a coat of white on the rest of my canvas and adding some blue as well. Let dry.

Grab your tracer and tape it to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your palm tree with your stylus.

Next, we're going to paint our palm tree. I'm using Raw Umber and a little bit of white for the tree trunk. I'm painting the palm tree leaves with green paint. I just want to get the basic shape for them because we will be adding green glass leaves that I created from sheet glass.

Feel free to decorate your palm tree however you would like! I am going to add some ball Christmas ornaments with some red paint and...

Margarita Snow Cone β˜€οΈ

snow cone summer Jul 13, 2022

Today, we are going to make a summery snow cone and see how we like it! I am actually going to do a series of snow cones, and this one is the first. This one will be a green snow cone with a lime (And you are going to love what we're doing with the lime - a bottle ring from Etsy!) We are using an 8x10 canvas with some acrylic paint and glass.

First, we will trace our snow cone onto the canvas. Tape your tracer to your canvas, place graphite paper underneath, and trace your snow cone with your stylus.

Paint your snow cone base with white paint (we'll add a little more color later, just so it pops.) Then, we're painting the background with white and Indian Turquoise blue.

Next, we're painting the actual snow cone with a couple different green colors. I'm using a light and a dark green. I'm also adding some Lemon Yellow. Using a smaller brush, blend the colors from the bottom to the top - dark to light. I'm also blotting in some white paint to lighten...

4th of July Flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

4th of july flag patriotic Jun 29, 2022

As we're gearing up to celebrate the 4th of July, I have some gorgeous abstract flags for you in two different sizes. With these flags, we are using a palette knife to paint the stars and stripes and then adding some blue glass. These are so easy to make and we'll be walking through how to do them! We are using a 4x12 and a 4x4 canvas to create these.

Start by loading your palette knife with some blue paint. (I'm using a separate palette knife for each colors.) Scrape the blue paint onto the left corner of your canvas.

Next is the white paint. Scoop some white onto your palette knife and make white stripes across your canvas. Don't make them straight, but make it look like the flag is waving in the wind. Then, we'll do the red stripes the same exact way. Blend the stripes together a little bit so it looks natural.

Now I'm going to add a little bit of gold paint. I'm loading a tiny bit on the very edge of my palette knife. I'm holding it sideways and running it...
